Jim and I went to Kilmarnock for our 20th wedding anniversary. I spent a happy few days in museums, then The Beast from the East arrived and our 4 days away became 10! The roads in general were impassable. And even when the snow melted enough to get around in Scotland, the A66 and railway in Cumbria were still blocked by snow and closed, so we could not get home.
In the meantime, I spent time in museums.

Enamelled trinket box |

Enamelled dressing table set. These items showed lovely signs of wear - the glove stretchers were slightly worn on the outside enamelling to show they had been used. So much nicer than if they had appeared so perfect they had never been sold, and always been kept in the original box. |
